Lucky mom
My daughter (and son now also!) attend The Country School – I could go on and on about the school, its faculty, teachers, curriculum…it is simply a wonderful community of learning. I’m lucky enough to be able to attend the kids’ Wednesday morning lower school meetings and watch them sing and listen to and share with one another…
But I was even luckier these last few weeks with a few extra special opportunities to get involved!
First was Minds in Motion, an opportunity for children in Connecticut to participate in some pretty interesting workshops. From song-writing to fairy garden making…and from roller coaster physics to cooking with yours truly. I had two groups of 4th and 5th graders and we had fun talking about staying healthy through the Fall and worked on some yummy seasonal recipes…
Then, yesterday I got to spend the afternoon with Loden’s 2nd grade class which is learning about Colonial times. They’ve been harvesting and learning about the uses of herbs with their colonial families…and yesterday we dove a little deeper into the subject, making tea infusions from dried herbs, and sprays/perfumes out of essential oils…Read More on the STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) coordinator’s blog! This photo shows Loden taking a sniff of some (clearly potent) spearmint or peppermint! She’s my best and worst critic! 🙂
